Southwind Farms offers offers a three level cattle handling program, taught by Herman Detering. Level one involves working on foot with gentle yearlings to learn the basic principles of low-stress handling. Level two involves working on foot with yearlings that have not been gentled. In level three, these skills are appplied to handling cattle from horseback. For a general introduction to this work, see the articles by Herman published by the Parelli organization in the October 2005 issue of Savvy Times, and various articles in The Cattleman magazine.
